Today has been the most devastating day ever. My group of 6 week old chicks, who were SO happy to be moved outside, were attacked last night. I have an enclosed run, and a temporary coop that we got off CL. I do not want to describe what happened, it is too graphic and depressing for any chicken lover. I feel so stupid, I have been crying since 7 am. Trying to focus on helping the survivors, actually survive and thrive. I am just sick over this. To make matters worse, they were my "oh I wish I had a _______" group of breeds. I loved those chicks so much.
Any advice for helping the few survivors? I have used a antiseptic, cleansed them, applied ointment, gave vitamin/electrlytes in water. made a mash of plain yogurt and mash. Put them in a dog crate, in a safe, warmer then outside today, garage. Frequent checks....But is there anything else I can do?
Also, I will just list the breeds, in case any of my fellow NH peeps will be selling or bringing any to the swap. Cant hurt to ask I suppose. Rest assured they will not be going into that particular set up. EVER again. It was totally secure except for a wire bottom, a very determined animal did this. crafty too. I just do not want anyone to feel unsafe about me possibly buying some chicks, I love them so much and I am so careful its almost annoying! But this I never expected, and believe me, it will never happen again. Ok here are the breeds I lost and loved so much. 1 Buff Brahma, 1 Dark Brahma, 1 Light Brahma, 1 Salmon Favorelle, 2 beloved ameracuanas, (ee's), 2 partridge plymouth rocks, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, and 1 silver spangled hamburg.

Saddest thing ever. Thank you all for listening to my vent session/cry session. I hope everyone's chickens are just as happy and safe as can be today! Take a minute, and hug a chicken! They are so innocent and helpless.
