Hello everyone,

I have been watching this thread and hoping to get to a swap just to check it all out. The next two Milford and Derry are close for me so I am excited to say I plan on stopping by. I really don't know what to expect - DH and I are new to chickens. We built a large coop to raise some layers 14 that are 7 weeks, a group of dual purpose that are 7 weeks (which may go either way) and 25 Cornish X arriving tomorrow that will be for the freezer. Looking forward to meeting some of you soon! As they say in cards - I'm all IN!

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who loves roosters!

I just love roosters!!!

I've heard that you can have a whole flock of roosters if you don't have any hens and they will all get along....sure is tempting, lol!

But, alas! I want my own eggs, too!

welcome to our thread. sounds like you are off to a good start with chickens. they are very addictive. there are so many breeds to choose from. swaps are alot of fun. you meet some really nice people and you never know what will show up for animals. this weekend will be the first time this year for the farmers market. you will be able to find veges, flowers, eggs and poultry just to mention a few possibilities.

welcome, sounds like 2 coops would solve the problem. one for boys and one for girls. I love the boys too. If I find one with a quiet crow, I keep it.

greg and I are at cmc today. my dad is having surgery. he was scheduled for 9am but has not gone yet. the poor guy has had nothing to eat or drink since midnight and he is 85 yrs old. I feel so bad for him.

HI ALL,
it is janet. dad went into surgery at 3:30 this afternoon. he had NOTHING to eat or drink since midnight. he is diabetic and takes 4 injections per day. his appointment was for 9am. the battery in his pacemaker was not working right. it is responsible for 70% of his heart function.
he now has a new generator. he is resting comfortably and the surgery went well. we are not sure when he will be be able to come home, he might have to go to a rehab facility first. he is still with us so I am happy.
thankyou for the thoughts and prayers.
