I have found a hatchery that has still has bbb and bbw but have to get 15 and that is just way too many for us.

We got some chicks at the Milford Swap in June. We have had some real issues with them, and I want to see if anyone else out there is having the same issues. First, we were supposed to be getting 4 Buff Orpington pullet chicks, and we ended up with 1 Buff and 3 Golden Comets, which is fine, whatever. It happens. It was busy there. Well we had them for a week/10 days and then found mites all over them. They were covered! We dealt with the mite issue (took 3-4 treatments) and lost the Orpington chick in the process.

About 2-3 weeks ago two of the others started having paralysis in their legs. They've been fine other than that, still happily eating and drinking. Well, from what I have read this seems to be Mareks. We have other chickens already, and thank GOD we have not introduced the others yet. Did anyone else purchase from a man with a LOT of chicks at the Milford swap, and is now having symptoms of Mareks?

I have NEVER had a problem before, buying chicks from lots of other people at various swaps, but it seems like we are going to have to cull these chicks in fear of infecting our others. This has been a nightmare. We feel so terrible for these babies. Could it be something different than Mareks, if one is showing no signs at all?

Sounds like Mareks and thats why I give my baby birds medicated starter feed. If that guy didnt use medicated starter feed then it could explain it. I think your other birds may be fine if they are adults but I would research before you let them anywhere near the little limp legged ones. I wasnt at that swap this year
