Hi. Sorry for your troubles. No fun having sick birds. There has not been a documented case of Mareks in NH in over 20 years so it is unlikely that is your problem. It sounds like infectious coryza or something similar which can be treated with erythromycin, streptomycin or sulfadimethoxine. Do you use Ivermectin (pour-on for cattle)for your mites? 1 drop under each wing will clear up mites within 24 hrs. With the mite problem you described it could also be a vitamin/calcium deficiency, are your birds on chick starter or grower? Wish I couldbe more help. Good luck.

One bird LITERALLY has not been able to stand up in 2 weeks. Her right leg is completely paralyzed, toes curled. Her left is almost completely paralyzed, usually splayed out behind her. She is open mouth panting half the time now, it has gotten progressively worse. She has no nasal drainage, no eye swelling, no sneezing, no symptoms of coryza. She still happily eats and drinks, but I feel so bad for her! She is seperated from everyone. The other has a limp, but can still get around. The third is completely fine, as of now.

Pictures and videos I have found online of other chickens with Mareks look VERY similar to the symptoms she's exhibiting. I'm just worried because this man had, and sold, a TON of chicks that day, and if this is Mareks, a lot of people could lose a lot of birds.

They are on Grower feed. They are approx 3 months old. Mites have been gone for a few months now, that happened in the very beginning. The paralysis is as of just a few weeks ago, coming out of nowhere and getting progressively worse as the days go by.

The man we bought them from was from Massachusetts, older gentleman, wearing an apron. Lots of pens, lots of chicks, and some ducklings.

. Just wondering

OK I STAND CORRECTED

I would have sworn my medicaqted starter food said it prevents MARECKS but it doesnt.
Only the shot at hatchery does that.

AS FOR PIGS............. the add on CL for Tilton says pigs will be there........ perhaps they mean something other than swine

paralysis can also be caused by botulism if it could be in bad/molded feed or picked up from the ground. the curled toes and paralyzed leg could also be a sign of need for vitamins in the diet early on. have you been giving them any vitamin & electrolyte mix in their water?

Dont mean to empoze but
Dont treat for coryza, its not coryza from what you describeing, coryza is an infection with in the eyes, not legs, you dont want to treat fro something they do not have.
If you have one leg going to the front and the other going to the back that is a sighn of mareks, legs issues can also be from other numerius things.
