CHICKEN SWAPS OF NH SWAP LISTINGS

We never lost power, believe it or not. I have 50 eggs in the incubator, so that's a big relief.

Janet, that boy's brother just started crowing - high but very quiet. I thought it was a bantam I was hearing. Let's hope he stays that way!

We will have some cool stuff in the spring; the incubator is full of DMRippy's designer mixes. Super blue egg layers, olive eggers, sex-linked Marans, and a bunch of others. And we'll be hatching over the winter from our own stuff; the big girls are getting a Sultan (the same one that Janet has made gorgeous babies with) and a Cream Legbar, the mediums are getting a black Silkie, and the littles will be Serama, Old English, and Japanese under a couple of tiny unrelated Serama boys.

Thanks for such great swaps; we only made it to one but we sold 20 in that one! The ads we posted at the Plaistow TC were successful too. After a big rooster cull we are down to 50 adults, most bantams, to overwinter. Should be doable.
thank goodness you didn't loose power.

my boy crowed the next day. he is somewhat loud. he went through quarenteen in on open fronted building. he was nervous so let them rip as soon as he heard me every day. eventually he made it to a pen in my main coop. he has a few girls and as soon as he got in to a building with other roos, he became quiet as a church mouse. I have a bantam cochin who has bonded with him. she chases off the other hens so she can sleep up against him. it is so cute, she is a lavander frizzle and very much in love.
is DMRippy from byc? what color are the sex linked marans?
glad to hear you liked the swaps. it will be nice to have a rest but I too am making my plans for next season. we will have more new locations next year.
can't wait to see what you make with the sultan and the legbar.

DMRippy is on byc - often in the 24-hour auction thread. The sex-linked Marans are cuckoo marans girls x black copper boy (I think - the boy could be wheaten or anything else gold-based for the cross to work, but I think in this case she's using black coppers). They'll be like Black Stars: black with copper leakage girls, barred boys.

I just went and checked the packing list again and for purebreds there's blue barred rocks, white leghorns, bbs Marans, and Lav Ameraucanas (Lav and black/lav splits). For crosses there's super blue egg layers (white leghorn x Ameraucana), olive eggers, and I am not sure whether you'd call the sex-linked Marans a cross or not. I am super excited.

those all sound great. now I have to go look up blue barred rock to see what they look like.

I just set a dozen of DMRippys' BLRW eggs 11 days ago. Power did go down for over a day but I have a generator now and the incubator never stopped. The eggs are from Foley stock. I read on Foleys site that they wont be selling any chicks next year but they're selling some of their laying flock. I've got a pair of breeders coming in next week. His SLWs are extremely good and won best variety at the Lucasville show last year. I'm super excited. Manny is actually encouraging me to go to Columbus in a couple of weeks and bring Tom at the same time to see Ohio State University. Not sure as its a long drive. It would be a super place to pick up some really good birds though! I have a feeling that if I went there would be a list of requests for me to pick up!

I'll be in Hooksett on Saturday with the 10 week old pullets. They had a blast today free ranging through all the downed leaves and looked to be finding all sorts of yummies.

tomorrow is the last swap for this season. all vender spots are full except for 1. get ahold of me if you would like that spot.
agway has set up the fire pit for us. I took wood over yesterday.
dress warm and join us tomorrow.
come hungry. there will be plenty of food available.

Hopefully I'm one of them, I've got some 10 week old pullets to sell. Do you know if they (or you) have any small end-of-year coops left?

yup, your are one of them.

I have these 2 available. I added wheels to the top one and painted it red with white trim.

Anyone going to have Turkeys tomorrow? I need a turkey for Thanksgiving, we lost ours with the IB outbreak this summer and of course I am waiting to the last minute to find one
