Chicken that's depressed and has a swollen rump! Help please!

I have a chicken who just stands in the coop doing nothing. She will eat only if I put food in front of her. She's a Rhode Island Red. Her rump is completely swollen and sort of hard. She deosn't have any feather's there and it's crusted with diahrea. I really don't want her to die so any help would be apreciated.

I can't offer any help, I am so sorry. I have one that has a similar problem and all the reading I have done on here has turned up nothing. So I will be watching your thread and hoping someone can offer some help to both of us. Mine shows the same physical symptoms you describe but she eats, drinks and lays just fine.

I'm really worried about her. She hasn't laid an egg so I'm wondering if she's eggbound?

1. I'm not sure the age, she's very, very skinny. Rhode Island Red
2. Stands in one place very still and deos not engage in scratching or pecking about
3. No physical injury that I can see
4. I don't know what could have caused it
5. Eats only if I put food directly in front of her. Haven't noticed her drinking
6. Running, greenishy poop
7. I gave her a homeopathic remedy for swelling of the reproductive system but nothing's happened so far. I also massaged her bum to see if the swelling would go down then.
8. I'd like to treat it myself preferably

10. Straw bedding cleaned three weeks ago

I would bring her in and keep her in a warm dark place where you can keep an eye on her. Have you checked her over for mites? Give her a thorough once over. I believe you can do an exploratory check to see if she is eggbound--try doing a search for "eggbound hen".
