Chicken tidbitting at owner

I'm reminiscing about my silkie that recently passed... One of the things she did was tidbitting when I came home and she seemed happy I was back. She tilted her body to one side, threw sticks and branches on the ground, clucking very loudly. It went on for quite a while). Anyone recognize this?

Nope. I raise/breed silkies and many of them free range. In nine years, I've never seen a hen do that. That is sure sweet though!

How adorable! I've never had silkies, but none of my chickens has ever been remotely that attentive to me.

I'm sorry your sweet, one-of-a-kind girl has passed, you must miss her terribly.

Thank you both for your response. I do miss her terribly, she was 12, it's very quiet all of a sudden. And of course the blame game; what could I have done differently? Oh well...

It's easy to blame yourself; I've done it, too.

But, my goodness, you must have taken great care of her or she wouldn't have lived for 12 years. I've never had a hen live into double digits!! There's bound to be a hole in your heart for a very long time. Take care.

Thank you, it's sort of automatic for me, I'm afraid. Still in doubt if I want chickens again. Maybe a different breed? Can you recommend any docile, sweet breeds? I know there's plenty of suggestions out there, but not everyone agrees

Bantam Cochins

All my Bantam Cochin hens were great; my Bantam Cochin rooster was a mean, little jerk who seemed to hate me. He is now living at someone else's property and we're both happier, I'm sure.
