I looked around a bit for some answers but I decided to just post. The other week I was lifting stones to help the chickens find worms and accidentally dropped it on her toe nail. I just checked again and it's literally dying. It started to shrink and it's basically going down to her toe. She's already on antibiotics. She was hospitalized for another reason and is doing significantly better. I'm just zoning in on this toe issue. The vet never commented on it or treated it? Can anyone give me inside to what's happening to her nail

Do you have a picture. Most likely the toe was crushed, and they can shrivel and die, and fall off. I would apply some Betadine or chlorhexidene to the toe to help prevent infection.
