I have read about toys that people have for their chickens. Can anyone clarify this? Show me examples or something?

Head of cabbage and a rope. That is about all you need. I also like to hang up suet feeders full of kitchen scraps for them all over, gives them something to forage for in the coop and run during crappy weather.

We drilled several holes in a white plastic ball and filled it with sunflower seeds. The smart ones will quickly learn to roll it and get the seeds that fall out. We made the top hole larger to refill the ball and covered it with duct tape. They love this toy!
