Chicken Tractor Complete!

My dad and I recently finished a chicken tractor to allow my hens to free range without the hawks attacking. It cost us under $100 to build and took just one afternoon to complete. It's 4x8 foot and seems to comfortably hold 6-8 chickens.
Does anyone else have a tractor that you have built? How often do you use it and have you run into problems using it?

I have several tractors----but mine are coops and all, they live in them so they are used 24/7, but some times I do not need them or use them like in the winter. This is one of several. This one has a 210sgft run. Takes 2 minutes to move it up 21ft on level/somewhat smooth ground.

THAT is a really cool design, I feel like I could do that if I ever get more land, since I'm working with 2.25 acres right now. I bet the chicks love it!

Oh it don't take a lot of room. Something I wanted to mention and I am sure you already do it---is you need some shade for yours---a tarp or something. Let me show you a simple slide tractor. The nesting boxes are on the right end you can not see in the pic.

That one is nice too. Yes, I threw a tarp overy it not long after I took that picture, it's been getting really hot here so I've been moving them to the shade often.

I would worry that the wire on the sides is open enough for a raccoon to sample some chicken, and even small preds. It looks like it would move easily when pushed if your ground isn't as rough and full of holes like mine.

Also worry about something digging under and getting in. I'm a true worry wart.

I was thinking the same things , it looks light weight , I wouldn’t leave them in it when your not home . Chicken wire is easily ripped by dogs and raccoons....

It is neat , you could get pegs like tent pegs to hold it down ??
