Chicken Tractor Pics and Questions

Quote:
Hello,

I will put wheels on the enclosed end and move it while the hens are still in the coop before I open it in the morning. It may be a little bumpy for them but I am sure they will get used to it.

thanks for the input.

My husband and I built a tractor, a-frame before we got the chickens. It's 4 x 8 on the ground and 5 ft high. What I didn't realize is that there was no protection from the rain because of the roof angle, and the rain also ran off the roof into the pen. I also realized that it was going to be too small for 4 big hens.
So, I put it on posts, raised about 16 inches. I live in Florida and need the shade and shelter under the tractor. (enclosed the floor). I added 4 x 8 sheets of t1-11 and hinged them from the top so they open like wings, also providing protection from the sun and rain. On the cool nights, the wings come down. On warm nights they stay open, and the tractor is enclosed with wire. I am probably going to build a pen around it, but for right now they are free range in my fenced back yard. I still need to "tweak" it, but I like this better. As soon as I get my lazy bum out to the store I need to buy a memory card for my camera, then I'll take pictures.
