Post your chicken tractor's here!!! For some of you that don't know what a ''tractor'' is it's a smaller pen that is movable and you can move it to a new piece of grass every day or whenever you want, people use them for chickens, turkeys, rabbits, quail, pheasants,I've even seen a huge one someone put goats in haha. If you have one post it here!!!!

I have a tractor I'll have to post pics later but maybe y'all can help me with something. We lock up the coop part of the tractor every night and open it up every morning because we don't trust the safety of the run part of the tractor against nightly predetors. Is this something everyone does? It is getting to be a pain but I want my girls to be safe. What kind of doors do you have on your coop entrance inside the tractor?

I did that at first but I can't go out before work every morning so I have learned to trust the run. Mine is hardware cloth stapled in all around and then larger hardware cloth on the ground for digging animals. I am new to chickens but I bought my tractor from a seasoned chickeneer (lol) and he assured me he has had good luck with them being safe. Mine doesn't have a door to the run so we made one but, like I said, I haven't been using it.

My husband is concerned that hardware cloth on the bottom will inhibit their ability to scratch and forage. Do you find it to be an issue?

The holes are big enough that they can eat stuff through them but they can't dig and scratch like they can out in the yard. I let mine out for a few hours each day though so for me it isn't an issue. Plus they dig their bedding out into the run and then dig in that

Just finished my first chicken tractor, have been wanting one for a while and finally built it. I'm gonna use it for my white cornish cross meat chickens and put my rabbits in every now and again!!
