Chicken tractor

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! How old are your chicks? They can go outside when they don't need extra heat anymore... if they are really little you might try just putting them outside for a little while during the day when it is warm out and bringing them back in if they seem cold or at night. Generally chicks are feathered enough around five-six weeks to stay outside in the summer, as long as it is not going to get really cold where you live.

I just put my little week and a half olds out, but they have a lot of others to snuggle up to at night..and, they can stay out of the wind where they are. Summer time only! I had them in the house with the light, then had them without it for a couple of days, and out they went. Nice tight safe place for them, nothing can get in, but me. :)
They are loving it.

They are almost 4 weeks old. plus my wife is evicting them as soon as th tractor is complete.

I'm glad I joined. I've found a lot of good advice already. I'll have tractor pics coming within a day or two. The run will be 6ft by 12ft by 4ft tall with a 4 by 6 by 6 coop over the run. I'm pretty sure it's way too heavy and I know my eggs will cost me about $10 an egg for the amount of money I've invested but that's part of the game I guess.
