Dog training is my hobby and future career path, so it was no question whether or not I would end up training our chicks! They are now 12 weeks old, and I've started training my Buff Orpington pullet, Jagger.

I use positive reinforcement training at all times. I use a clicker and then I use dried mealworms as treats. So far I've gotten Jagger to fluff up when you call her a pretty bird, come when called as she knows her name, and know she's well on her way to learning how to ring a bell on command.

Has anyone else trained their chickens? Put any training stories or tips here, I'm obsessed!

That's quite interesting. Can't say I've done much in the way of chicken training.

Harness trained my hen!

I've tried to train mine to stay off the patio but to no avail. They still sneak onto it when I'm not outside and want to sit in the chairs and have girl time chatting away with each other. I guess I should just throw in the towel and serve them tea. :)

I love all your responses, but I meant trick training :) Has anyone else here taught their feathered friends any tricks?

When I say, “Run! Run!” my flock will run to the run. It’s pretty funny.

Training them to come to me was much easier than training them to run away on cue.
