Chicken Transportation

Alright, i want chickens pretty badly and im doing so much research its crazy. I only have 1 question and it is about transportation for chickens. Im only planning on having 2 or 3 but i want to know how to get them to my summer house from boston and what would be the best way to do so. Im only two hours away from boston in the summer and it would only be at the beggining of july and again at the end of august. Any suggestions would be great!

I picked some up in a dog crate and they were sleeping the whole time

A dog crate or a wire cage has worked for me.

Make sure you have some water on hand because they tend to "pant" when being transported and that dries their mouths quite a bit.

Considering you're talking about doing this in the heat of the summer, I'd get a cardboard box, cut holes in the sides for air, and put them in the backseat of the car. This way it will be dark and cozy for them and cool with the air conditioning. They'll snuggle together and sleep most of the way then wake up in a new world. You won't have to worry about feeding them or giving water for just 2 hours.
