we recently bought a pecking block for our chickens which they loved, the following week we found u could buy the ingredients in a tub for near enough the same price but will do 4 times the amount, what would be safe to use to bind the mix together to be able to remake the block, a friend suggested lard? in the mix is corn, grit, sesame seeds, dried shrimp and mealworms. Does anybody else have any cheaper alternative? we've tried brocoli, cauliflower and bread but none seam to show any interest

I believe the usual binder is lard; you might check the label.

We checked both labels and they were exactly the same with no mention of any binding ingredient, we even asked the assistant which only left them in confusion.
