Someone was talking (typing) about bird seed being bad for ducks, but I don't know about chickens. My chickens love the food that comes down from the feeder. Once I was hanging laundry and my hen, Sophie, jumped on my head and tried to reach the feeder hanging nearby.
I found a recipe for "Forage Cakes" once. It worked okay, but was a little too soft. I think it was just veg oil and flock raiser (or whatever crumbles you have), but I'll try to find and find it. My babies loved them when they were warm and devoured them in seconds! Although, they froze pretty well. I'll try and find that recipe.
