Chicken Tumor!Help!!!!!

I highly doubt that's a tumor. It looks more like an impacted crop. Give the chick some grit and massage the area. If that doesn't work, a small drop of olive oil down the beak will fix it. I try and feed the oil first before trying to put a drop down the beak. Cute chick.

The chicks crops were smaller in the morning...that was a relief!!!

Crop readjustments and a foul smelling crop??? Could someone please explain these and how to remedy them?

I'm giving the chicks dried/crumbled kale, lettuce, and other greens, sprouts and dried dandelion leaf (this seems to be their favorite)...though I'm not giving as much to them as I'm sure they would like. I have also been taking them outside a much as I can when it's not raining.

Is there something written down on how often I could feed the chicks in addition to the chick starter and how much per chick
? Am I overfeeding my chicks??? They never seem to want to stop eating and are finally eating the grass and digging into the dirt and eating the dirt.

Thanks,

I have a two week chick with the same issue - greatly relieved to read that it is not a tumor. They have had lots of grit and this one has not had sticky butt, so I will try the olive oil. Thanks everyone for writing in.

I have a chick two weeks old with the same exact tumor. Still trying to figure out what to do about it . . . has anyone responded to the tumor part?

Welcome, Kennedy! Glad you joined us.

If you go back a little ways and read the responses, you will see that what seems like a tumor is just a full crop. Not to worry. Part of the normal digestion process. It fills up during the day and then empties as the food is passed along through their systems. Lots of folks make this mistake with their brand new baby chicks :)

I hope there's still somebody here. I just found this chicken out in the street she's beat up and needs some love and I can't figure out if this is her crop or not. It's seems more like a tumor. Does any one know?

Looks like her crop to me. Why do you say she looks beat up? Her feathering over the crop is sparse, and she's got that total body bad hair day look common to all chicks at that age. Where abouts do you live? Are there feral chicken flocks in your area? Looks like you have yourself a new chicken.

I'm I'm an urban part of South Florida and I have no idea where she came from. It just looks very bludgy and irregular to me. And I'll send another pic to show what I mean by beat up
