Chicken tunnel

Is this connecting to anything other than the coop?
If this is going up a hill, they should have steps, like a ladder, or some sort of bedding on top of the wire. It's really better for them to have bedding on top of the wire.

I had a tunnel for a while a lot like yours. They walked in it just fine to get from the coop to a big run. I used garden staples to hold it in place.

Just a word of caution - we tried to let them out in it only when we were active in the yard, one day we checked in on them & saw a bobcat pounce on a chicken in the tunnel. He couldn't get the body out, but had no problem killing her before we could chase him off. Of all the things I imagined could happen, that wasn't one. Needless to say we no longer have a tunnel.

They will probably be more comfortable walking on something that is not the wire.

If the tunnel will be level, maybe you can just lay a wood board in there for them to walk on.

If the tunnel will be at an angle, then a wood board with crosspieces or something else for better traction might work well.
Thanks, I put a piece of wood in.

Wow,thanks for the tip.

I had that but made the wire fence in a upside down U, garden staples to hold it in also. 12-14" wide at the bottom and about a foot tall. Inside I had pavers so the area didn't get muddy. They learned it Super fast.
It went from the Run to the front yard, about 15-20 feet long. At the run to tunnel I had a wood plank to close off the tunnel and a cinder block to make sure it didn't move.

You have to make sure it is TALL enough and it is better to have it 2 Hen wide.... they like to run in to see who can get in/out first.
