Chicken Vets

Does anyone know of a chicken vet or vet that sees chickens around central Florida? Will chickens be okay without every going to the vet or with vaccines or do they need them. (5 silkie chicks) (1month old).

Chickens do not need to go to vets to get check ups or vaccines. You could take them to a vet if they are seriously injured or sick, but I've had chickens for 5 years and haven't had to do that.

Ok I wasn't sure im new at raising chickens so I wasn't sure about that because I know some people do take theirs to the vet. Thank you

It doesn't hurt to have a plan ahead of time! You can call local vet clinics and ask, or see if any recommend someone. The state vet school or veterinary path lab may have some recommendations too. If you already have a veterinarian, ask if there's any interest in doing for your birds, or again, a recommendation. Mary
