Chicken water filthy! How can it be a bit more clean?

In summer when it is very hot I keep probably 10 water containers out for my chickens--4-5 flat pans, 2 founts, and several plastic 1 gallon waterers with ACV in them. They like to cool their feet in the flat "pig pans" by standing in them as well as drink from them. The rest get shavings and a bit of poo in them since half of my 70 chickens are young ones from spring. In winter I will have half that many and only 2 heated waterers.

If the water is on the ground try to put it on a brick or something to get it up higher. They tend to scratch around and kick stuff into the water. It worked for me but I still get the occasional junk in the water.

I used to have this problem all the time and fixed it by putting the waterer up on a brick! Did the same with the food and now, less food is lost :)

So far, this works for me best, but the wind actually blows in more dust out here than the chickens drag in themselves.

The best options are either to elevate the chicken coop, or get a hanging waterer.... I elevate mine on bricks and put in the coop, not the run, try it and see how you like it!
