Folks, this is the culmination of using many different waterers for my chickens. I designed this for ease of use, and to have my chickens have clean water. I got tired of having to clean out the waterers every day. If you've had chickens you know what I mean. Each waterer is individually hand made by me.
The chicken sticks its' head through the hole to drink so no foot muck gets in the water. I've sold many of these to my local feed supply store and they've sold them all and want more. I have 4 pens with 24 layers and a couple roosters in each pen. They/I have this waterer in each and I clean them out about 3 times a year.
Since there is actually only about 1 1/2 inches of water in this reservoir, it's also water conserving. Think about all the water wasted, and the mess created from cleaning out an open pan of water every day.
Mine is placed on a 'cinder' block to keep it off the ground, so they won't 'scratch' dirt into it, and wired to a fence for stability when the chicken jumps off the top of it.
