Just cut it off if your worried about it .No she does not shake her head violently. She is an ex- battery hen and she has always been blind in one eye, and struggles to see out the other. The darkening of the comb could be the picture, however she does have a couple of cuts on it from when a chicken pecked her. She does not have an injury on the wattle.
Whoops ..Easy fix! Just cut it off. No more wattle in the mouth.
