Hi, I'm Joe! New to the Homesteading life, finally retired. My son and I built a great coop, we have 12 chicks around 9 weeks old, looks like maybe 2 roosters so far, and another 8 chicks around 4 weeks old, ( we had 9 but lost one) love my girls and I'm enjoying learning all I can about raising good healthy birds! I'm on a few chicken sites now, finding this all really fun and interesting!

Glad to meet you, Joe, and welcome to BYC. Congratulations on your retirement, and your new flock and coop! That is awesome that your son worked with you on it!

Be sure your coop is large enough for the new birds you have added to your flock, by checking with this handy Farmer's Almanac post on chicken coops! It has a lot of other stuff there, but size requirement by type of chicken (bantam, standard, or broiler) is what you are probably going to want to read. That's not far down that first page, and #2.

Best wishes with your delightful new hobby! If you have any pictures, we would love to see them! Any stories about the birds' antics are also welcome. We all love to talk about chickens!
