Chicken with a broken, leg what do I do

The kids are learning not to name our animals. They are getting good a burying things that die up here on the mountain.

The first time I ever got to my flock at 6:00 a.m. Is when I found my favorite hen Tanse dead in the back of the coop. I name all my birds and even some of the stray cats. The birds I don't name is the birds we eat. I did that once. It was turkeys and one of them was my favorite; but sadly we ate her for either Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter dinner.
I wouldn't say don't name the animals because they could suddenly curl up their toes and die for no reason, but name them so they can look back at them and see the memories they had with them, good or bad. Perhaps if your kids are interested, they can create their own graveyard just for their animals. And maybe they can put that animal's name on whatever they use for a tombstone.
I have what I call "The Chicken Graveyard" , "The Chick Graveyard" , and "The Turkey Graveyard" . So my birds are mostly buried in whatever graveyard is their category with a few exceptions. Your kids could also have a funeral for them, too, if they wanted to get technical.
