Chicken with Bubble eyes

I have a flock of chicken. I have 8 chickens in good health. But my son noticed that one chicken had a bubble eye for 2 days. Today we have 2 more with the same problem. I did isolate the sick chicken but I dont know what medicine to give them. Should I take them to the vet? Does isolating them keep the other chicken from getting the disease? or I should treat the whole flock since I have also 14 baby chick. Please I need your advice ASAP.

The only thing I know of that causes bubbly eyes is a respiratory infection, I'm afraid

Someone might be along shortly with more ideas, though.

You did the right thing by isolating but these things are super-contageous, and it sounds like its already spread, so I would be looking to treat the whole flock with any treatment you decide on.

If it is respiratory (any signs of sneezing, mucous in nostrils, wheezy chest if you pick them up & listen?), they can recover from the symptoms and there is treatment available, but they will be carriers for life.
This means any new birds you introduce will most likely catch it, & you can't breed from these birds and pass them on outside of your flock. Their symptoms might also flare up again sometimes, if they're stressed etc.

My girls have had a bad respiratory infection, and they're fine now though - so not all doom and gloom!

Do you have that little noses baby saline soulotion spray? it works well for making sure it dosent turn infected. I always use antibiotic injections for sick birds.

It is a saline soulotion for babies the brand is called Little Noses. You can spray it in there eyes when there pasted or bubbly eyes, it also helps with stopped up noses.

Bubbly eyes is cause by an upper respiratory issue, pushing fluids into those passages is not a good idea (sorry) The air is cause by block sinus, so more fluid probably wouldnt feel good.

Try to do a little diagnostic work to help us narrow down the problem.

Is the bird weasing and gasping? Means the lungs may be involved, try a tetracylin in the water

Are the eye tissues swollen? This may be a Mycoplasma, and you will need Tylan or Pennchlor 64 Soluble

Is there a bad smell around the head of the bird? That would be Infectios Coryza, and you will need Sulfadimethoxine.

The right med is neccesar, the wrong antibiotic will actually just make the bug stronger by making it immune. Choose the right med, and watch closely, if you dont see a DRAMATIC change in 3 days, you have the wrong med!

Isolation is a good Idea if only one bird is sick, but sadly with upper respiratories, chances are good they all have it, and just one or two are currently showing the symptoms. When you seperate a bird, it looses its place in the flock, so try not to keep her away for too long. Medicate everyone, dont take chances! And remember, even if they look better after a few days, you must keep medicating for the full time (per med) or your bug will get resistant to the meds, and come back stronger!

I have a chicken that has watery eyes that bubbles in the corners. I started her on Duramycin-10 for nearly a month. That didn't cure it. I also mixed antibiotics in her feed (aureomycin) for nearly a month. Still no cure. I then gave Tylan 50 orally for 5 day. Still no cure. I have now been giving Tylan 50 via injections for 5 days. Still no cure. WHAT DO I DO NOW?
