Hello, I have some free ranging chickens and they all seem to have caught this disease that encrusts their face with bumps. I did some research and thought it could be mites or fungi, possible favus, but I am not sure. Can anyone help identify what it is and advise me as to how I should handle this? Thank you

Nate

Fowl pox. Pretty heavy on the face though.
It's a virus transmitted through mosquitoe bites. It'll eventually run it's coarse over a few weeks, & the chick will be immune to it.

Thank you. I was concerned it was some kind of fungus. I’ll try to find some remedies to alleviate some of their symptoms.

Don't mess with the welts, they'll eventually shrink, & go away. Just provide normal food, & water to the sick bird.
