Chicken with diarrhea - yeast in stool sample

Not my chicken... but a friend who is a vet (better versed in cats and dogs) asked if i had any experience with microsporidia or yeast in a chicken stool sample... chicken is having diarrhea.

Any info/experience to pass along? This one is new to me
 
Microsporidia seems to be an opportunistic fungal disease in animals and people who are immunocompromised. It began to show up in humans during the Aids epidemic, but it has always been common in animals. Interestingly, it is treated with albendazole or Valbazen, a common wormer that is used in farm animals, chickens, and humans. Usually with fungal or yeast infections, Nystatin is an antifungal medication that works well. Fluconazole is another excellent antifungal medicine as well. Here is some reading:
