I have a Leghorn 2 year old Hen with a very dirty butt. It seems to be getting a little worse so I put her in warm soapy water to get as much of the “poop” off as I could. The poop stuck on her was almost a grainy substance. I dusted her cage and feathers as best i could with High-Yield Garden, Pet and Livestock dust (I also tried diatomaceous earth but it did not help). But did not seem to do anything. Should I continue with the Hi-Yield? Could this be mites? Please any advice is greatly appreciated🙏🏼

This looks like balls of urates and poop to me. After bathing her thoroughly, you could trim back some of her butt fluff, so her poop will not stick to it.

She might be in need of de-worming as well. When did you last deworm her?

Update:
So I have continued with the Hi-Yield dust for the possible mites and have tried diatomaceous earth as a dewormer...so far I have not seen any improvement in the poopy butt. I think the next step is to try a different dewormer, maybe something a little stronger? Can I use safe-gaurd dewormer for goats on a chicken? Any dewormer recommendations for chickens? Today I found this black poopy substance she has left... could this still be the worm situation or something more serious a vet needs to see? Any help is appreciated thanks!
