Hello fellow chicken lovers!
I’ve had this buff Orpington for a few years now, her name is chiko. She has always had this weird eye, I’m not sure how to explain it though. It has never caused any issues before and she doesn’t seem to have any issues getting around even though she can only see with one eye. The other day I noticed it looked more yellow and slightly puffy, could it be infected or did something just irate it maybe?
here is what it normally looks like (not a great photo but the only one I could find)

And then this is how it looks now

It looks irritated and watery, and It doesn’t look normal. It could be that way from a peck injury, getting something in the eye, or signs of a respiratory disease. You can apply antibiotic drops or ointment twice a day.
Okay I will definitely keep a close eye on her, are there certain ones to use? Would Neosporin or somthing like that work, I have those on hand but not antibiotic drops

i golly yes that needs to be addressed, the best cure is Meso colloidal silver right in the eye , it could sting a bit , but not much i have used it in my eyes and it will cure most any eye problem, if use before its to late use it right away , with this eye problem , i would soak the entire eye by spraying it on not to miss a spot , believe me it will cure that eye problem over night , you can get a bottle of MESO colloidal silver on Amazon and have it delivered to your door, you can use it for your entire family & all pets except fish, it kills all germs , viruses and bactera on contact..!!! people say it cures aids..!! i cured feline lukima in 10 days all my cats are well no sign of illness , i use it all the time for many things , so with an eye like that get some right away , remember the whole family can use it to clear up skin , and heal quickly any cuts or skin infections what ever the problem colloidal silver will heal it & very quickly , give it a try ..!!! & save yiour self a vet bill. good luck ..!!!!!!

Terramycin eye ointment from the feed store is very good, and if you cannot find that, plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment can be used twice a day in the eye. Does she have any sneezing, noisy breathing, or other symptoms.
Okay thank you! Nope nothing else that I’ve seen. The breeder we got her from was through 4H and it was a terrible breeder, two of the other chicks that we got with her died from respiratory issues so I’ll keep a real close eye on her for sure. I’ll look for the terramycin but I won’t be able to get it until Friday so should I use a triple antibiotic ointment or Neosporin for now?

I would use the Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment until you get the Terramycin. If your others died from a respiratory disease, have you ever fotten a diagnosis or treated with antibiotics?

Never got a diagnosis from a vet but I’m 90% sure they died from respiratory issues. The one we had was a rooster, I’ll have to look I think I might have made a thread about it as I don’t remember what I did exactly but he ended up living for a while after he got better from a respritory issue and then one day as we were outside he just dropped down stopped breathing and maybe even had heart failure as well but it was definitely something respiratory, I’ll see if I can find the thread about it

Doesn’t look like a respiratory infection to me.. kind of looks like an injury to her eye ball. Is the eye grey?
