I agree this is a very good idea. We have been keeping Indigo gated in our kitchen... easy floor clean up

(Airehead's mom here) The roo seems to be healing, miraculously. Fascia is forming over the more superficial area toward the rear, and all the exposed tissue is a healthy pink. There's no icky smell or exudate (I did wound care in a hospital PT dept for 3yr-- can you tell?) and the bird is eating, drinking, pooping and being ornery. He's actually quite still and sweet while we clean and treat him each day. We've put him outside in a wire ex-pen (screens on top) in a clean area, for socialization and fresh (HOT!) air for a few hours. The dog crate he's been in has been moved to the barn so we can sleep a bit longer in the morning (you try sleeping when there's a roo crowing in your garage!). Anyone know if granulex would be applicable in this case? (and where to find it these days-- it was hard to get when I worked at the vet) Thanks for everyone's support, suggestions and encouragement.

Whew! The Big Feathers above are looking out for us and our birds. The wounded Ameraucana has a new home with a retired couple who enjoy nursing critters back to health. A wonderful local gentleman has played chicken courier for us and swapped "Victor" for a sweet little silver Ameraucana. Best of all worlds for everyone, especially Victor!
