Chicken with red bulge like a nut at back end?

Not sure why this is? Can anyone offer help or suggestions?

it hasn't fully absorbed the egg yolk before hatching. If it doesn't disappear inside soon (and I don't think you should intervene to try to help it do so), the chick will not survive.

Thank you, but I thought they absorbed the yolk sack through the navel not through the bottom?

it's just a layer of very thin skin between the partially absorbed (or absorbed and then started falling out again) yolk.

Interesting. It was day 22 and all others ok

I have kept reading. The posts and info. are so helpful. It was absorbed a little bit more but the outside of it is dry. I put some coconut oil on it. I'm going to put the other chicks under a broody hen. I'll let this one wait in the incubator a few days and see. Not sure whether to clamp it or just wait and leave it.
