I have a silkie chicken and he has got what looks like a feather irritating his eye. I tried bathing it yesterday to move the feather but it seems to be irritating him more today. Can anyone suggest a better way to try and clean the eye. Thank you.

In this photo did you put something on the eye or is this discharge coming from the eye? Any sneezing or coughing? What does the poop look like?

The eye has bubbles in it and some crusty drainage. Sometimes you may see that with mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) a respiratory disease. Have you seen any sneezing, nasal drainage, sleepiness, or noisy breathing? I would rinse the eye with saline or water, and apply Terramycin eye ointment twice a day. If he could have been pecked in the eye or gotten something in there, it may have caused some infection. Have a look inside the eye for anything unusual.
