I have a dorking who appears to have a sore throat. She is eating well and seems OK in herself but she is so croaky has anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong with her.

How long has she been croaky?

I've noticed that some of my hens can't tolerate scratch and it gets caught in their throats and then their throats get inflammed for a little while. It usually goes away. But I also quit giving them scratch. its too hard on them and they get impacted crops with it. Also, I have a hen who intermittently has an expiratory honk. She's had it for quite awhile and seems okay otherwise. Don't know if she's got a slow-growing tumor.
If you give your chickens scratch, I would back off of that.

I'm not sure what you mean by "croaky"--do you mean that she sounds different? Is her behavior different? Does she have any stuff in her eyes or nostrils? Does she open her mouth in a strange manner?

Hi
By croaky I mean she seems to be loosing her voice.
I had considered worms so have just started them all on Fluvent wormer.
She really at the moment seems well otherwise although when I let them out this morning I will check on her again.
I had problems with her a couple of months ago when she got a bad eye which overnight developed into a very nasty respritory problem. At the time when I visited the vet he said her temp was nearlly of the scale and if she got better it was possible she could have ongoing problems.
Not sure what scratch is.
