Our Lavender Orp has a swollen eye. She has always dealt with an upper respiratory infection, probably chronic (she is a pet, though a good layer) and we had to hand raise her through some severe health issues as a pullet. But a couple of weeks ago we noticed one eye was swollen. Our standard treatment when she gets 'bubbly eyes' is to rinse with saline, treat eye with Vetericyin, and dose her with Tylan (2 x a day, she takes it orally, .3 cc per lb so about 1.2 cc). This hasn't worked this time though. We did a 5 day round, no change. Now trying a 10 day round. Picture attached. The eye has a nasty yellow thing at the corner. She is eating normally, active and cheerful. Would like to help her clear this up.

It looks like some pus in the eye, and there may be more that needs to come out around the eye. Getting the pus out might make the Tylan work better. Qtips or tweezers and another pair of hands to hold her would be helpful. You can also try some Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin ointment in the eye twice a day. Here are a couple of graphic videos about pus removal:

OK was worrying about that being the case. OK, we will try removing it...yuck. Kind of worried about tweezers around her face, she's a bit squirmy.

Before we clumsily try to remove the pus, what is the worst we can do? I hate to hurt her so that she will go downhill, because she is such a trooper with everything. We were just going to try the squeezing and saline. She's pretty tame so we should be able to hold her and do it. But I don't want to like force it into her brain or something.

OK, we tried squeezing and no luck, though this is clearly what it is. Going to try tweezers next. Any tips for immobilizing her head?
