I have just read through all the post in this thread so far and feel confident y'all can help me. I came home yesterday and found chicken poo on my front porch with round worms in it. This morning I found some in my bantam coop. I'm going to get Wazine today, but I don't know how I can get my free range chickens to drink the water it is in. They stay in a barn and drink out of a creek. It has been raining everyday for over a week and everything is a muddy mess. Any suggestions?

If you're in the US or Canada, worm them with fenbendazole 10%(Safeguard or Panacur, liquid or paste) by mouth and repeat in ten days. In the US you will find it in the horse, cattle or goat section of most feedstores.

One more question. I have a broody with chicks in a Little Tykes cabin I converted to a coop. Do I worm her? Will it hurt the chicks they are 2 weeks old?

I got Safeguard for goats and Wazine. How do I give them the Safeguard? Dosage amount?

Per my vet, the Safeguard dose that I have used is 50mg/kg (0.50ml per 2.2 pounds of body weight) once by mouth and repeat in ten days. However, I've been thinking about changing to 20mg/kg three days in a row for better coverage of certain worms after having read an abstract, it's up to you. Do you have a way to weigh them?

And no, worming the broody will not hurt the chicks.

No I don't have access to scales that will weigh them. my Dutch Bantam Cockerel is 5 mths old and about the size of a Robin.

If you want, I can look up their weights on the web and calculate some doses for you.

The Dutch bantam is a very old breed. It was kept by peasants to provide them with small eggs, as the law stated that all large eggs were to go to the Lord of the Manor.
These are among the smallest bantams: cocks weigh 21 oz., hens 19 oz., cockerels 20 oz. and pullets 18 oz.
