I have owned hens for almost three years now (they don't free range) and have never wormed them. I've never seen - nor have I looked for - worms in the poop. I have DE in the coop shavings and give them ACV every now and then. Do I need to be giving them something else and more often? I sell my eggs at work so I'm a little concerned.

if you want a non chemical way of worming, i use crushed pumpkin seeds. natural way & they love eating them. if you use chemical treatment, you should stop eating the eggs for a while.
i only give them pumpkin seeds though when i think its time to worm them so they dont eat them all the time.

i get them from any store that sells seeds. you can get them in packets & they are raw.
or wait until halloween & keep them when you scoop out the flesh.

My understanding is that pumpkin seeds are a deterent, but not a treatment for worms. I could be wrong, but that is what I have been told. The best thing is to take a sample to the vet and have it tested. Then you will know for sure if your birds have worms or not. Any vet can do it.

ohhh ok. mine are still young (2 weeks) so i'll probably do it in october then. i'd rather use something natural then chemicals though b/c i need the eggs
