Hello, I'm new here, but I've been prowling the boards for a long time. Anyways, my coop was attacked by Raccoon(s). One was killed and one chicken was wounded. We've been using a Antiobiotic cream and all natural aloe gel on the wound. As for the wound, it's not very deep, about an inch across. It's been slowly healing by the looks of it. She's been brooding and sitting on the nest, before and after the attack which I thought was good because she's not out with the germs and other birds too much.

Here is my main concern, I came home from work today and noticed she had went to take a dust bath. I left the would open to heal faster, and now it's covered in a very fine dirt/dust. Should I clean this off, and what should I use if so, or do I just keep it as is and let it scab up. I'm fairly new to owning chickens and this is my first attack to deal with. She's a wonderful golden laced polish and one of our favorite hens, really want to do what's best for her. Overall she appears to be fine, not too distressed, etc.

Thanks!!!
