Chicken wound infected?? Yesterday we found this wound under the wing of one of my chickens, it was red and had no scabs then it looked very new

i wanted to isolate her but my mom put her back in the coop with everybody, she is her usual talkative self and I’m not sure if it’s healing or if it has become infected as I suspect her to have dust bathed in their coop which could’ve gotten into the wound

Do you have a rooster in your flock? If so, a proper rooster pedicure can help to minimize feather loss and injuries.

It does not look infected in your picture, but you can take a whiff to make sure there is no off smell. You can just leave it or spray rhe scratch with antibiotic ointment.

Thanks for reply, yes we have quite young Australorp rooster named Pingu, he is very sweet but very big as well compared to our Welsummer hen which is the one that got hurt, didn’t know you could trim their nails thanks for advice😊
