Chickened Out? Did I do The rIght thing?

I am not saying babying your chickies is a bad thing =] It can be good =] especially if you have 3-6 chickens or however many =] I just know that chickens will be just fine if you dont and will be just fine if you do =]

I say do what is best for you your chicks will prob be find but if your up all night stressing about it then better bring them in either way its not going to the chicks. enjoy them while you can dont let anyone make you feel back about babying your babies

My chicks have been out in the coop since they were a week in a half, I live in Maine. They're doing just fine and have been out there for about a week or two. Actually the 2 young buff orpingtons are outside now with our two 5 week old silver laced wyandotte roosters and everybody gets along just swell.

the kids will go on another road trip today, my hubby has to change the floor of the coop today, so it'll be more clean friendly. The coop is one of those kit models and it has a wood floor, gonna change it out for some kitchen floor panels we have leftover that are laminate. I have about 3 pieces extra, and they are wood with laminate covering, so they should fit perfectly. I imagine you can get these as separate pieces at a flooring store. ( or hd, lowes) works for me till the real coop gets built

This week they are 5 weeks, maybe they'll go out..hehehe

well i left them out all night temps got down to 48 degrees, opened the door to the outside run at 7am when it was 50 degrees. 7 chicks the RIR'S and the Sex links all came pileing down eating up a storm but the 2 Barred rocks were stuck on the perch all puffed up and not functioning! one is breathing kinda raspy and makes an occational peeping sounds the other just appears in a trance, she did poop a few times and drank a bit of water. I scooped them up in my warm jacket, have them in the house warming up now? everyone else seems a bit cold but jumping playing and huddleing every 20 mins for warmth. The sun is coming around its gonna be warm today and warmer tonight so I'll try the barred rocks out in the coop when it gets up to 60-70

it sounds more like the barred rocks are just ill. I would quarantine them until they are well

did you have a light out in the coop with them for heat? i only have 9 chicks and no broody hen, most of the ones that huddled on the floor are good this morning, the two perchers are not doing so well? have them inside now for 2.5 hours they are still not moving much and looking sickly, these are usually the biggest strongest outgoing chicks of the bunch???

i was wondering if the raspy sounds are illness, this just started since yesterday, although i used pine shaving a bit dusty and they were sneezing a bit, should i add vinegar to the water or anything?
