chickenlaw vs. doglaws or out-laws??

Sound like the news people saw a good human interest story with a Little Boy & his beloved dog.

Like everyone else posting, if the dog was so beloved, then why was it not kept at home!

And then trying to put the blame of the second BB shot & the dog missing on the OP.
That STINKS to high heaven!

Only problem now is, if the dog goes missing or is injured again, the OP is going to be the first one they look at, which is so UNFAIR!

Good Luck OP, I hope it settles down & you don't have any more issues.

I want to thank all of you for being so supportive.I was really embarrassed about the whole thing . but after reading all of your replys ,I feel so much better...
honest I cant thank you all enough. I will keep you all posted.with anything else.

here is a couple more bits of info:

When they first got the dog and we were still friends the dog was not and is not house broken,he used to use their son's room as his potty spot.
their son bedroom carpet was SATURATED with dog urine.I felt so badly, I went and got my carpet cleaner and cleaned their carpets for them free of charge and I purchased all of the supplies myself.!!gratitude huh.

also the owner I believe is management for viejas the local "do good" casino.huge " political pull" around here.I did notice that the news station who aired that story was sponsored by the casino, Do you all think that had anything to do with it??

Sorry you've had to go through this nightmare, Kim. Hope it all blows over soon.

I've learned a valuable lesson from this thread.......The SSS method is the ONLY method I'll ever use for problematic dogs from now on.....and, as a lawyer posted earlier in this thread.....Deny, Deny, Deny......Deny until you're blue in the face.

Option 1: Shoot to kill, bury the dog
Option 2: Go out armed with a CAMERA and show it to animal control. Then when you set coyote traps and that little booger gets trapped in one and you dump him off at the pound and they have to PAY $$$$$ to get him out, I bet he stays in the pound!

You have every right to protect your animals. Good thing you created somewhat of a paper trail by being the first to complain, but you should have complained and complained and complained. I can't believe they are doing this to you, its just awful. I sure hope they don't claim to be Christians, gives us all a bad name you know...

I always get it in writing from the Deputy who takes the complaint - "complainant advised that it is legal to use deadly force against any animal attacking livestock" along with a physical description of the dog. It is also in the report that the Deputy spoke to the owner of the dog was advised of the same thing. Signed, dated, and on file at the county sheriff's office.

I'm sorry that you're having to go through this, but I'm thankful you shared your story. I commented on the video but there is no getting to some of those thick people. They can't charge you with anything, since i'm sure you were shooting to kill and thats how I would describe it

BB guns would be considered cruelty just like paint ball guns. Shame, because a few pops with a paintball gun is letting people know their dog is either causing problems,or is in danger.Either way it lets an owner know the dog needs to be kept home.

Yeah, when the dog goes missing they will always suspect you even if it wasn't you. Sorry you had to deal with this and the new NFH situation. SSS really is a good option.

Interesting how dog owners are quick to want to shoot you if you shoot their dog. Lol,it is not like chicken owners are going over into neighbors yards and shooting their dogs. I have only read of people shooting dogs on their own property, and if the dog gets away they MIGHT try to follow to TALK to the owner.

Yup,thanks for posting this. Makes me wonder what I would do as I am surrounded by dogs in unfenced yards. I worry knowing dogs can dig and climb quite well, and so I know my 6 foot chainlink is only going to slow a determined animal down.

Animal attacked your animals and you shot at it(to kill) as permitted by law.Unfortunately the news has slanted you,but stand tall knowing you did what you had too.Time for a more effective gun.

I see you filed a complaint of dog at large and destruction of property. What was supposed to be the response to that complaint? I would think it would be fines. I see signs around here that people can get fined $500 if they don't pick up their dog poo. Laws are only good if the city follows them. You would think they want the money. If they had fined the owners MAYBE the owners would have leashed the dog,or gotten a kennel for it.

Shame the city blew it.Seeing the other post where AC took prompt action just makes me sad they let your dog problem get to this point. The city allowed this situation to go on to the point where you were forced to deal with property damage, dog waste material, and the killing of your livestock.

I agree! I was reading a story of a former marine whose house was raided. They claimed he was dealing drugs,so they wanted to invade his house.Well they did and the wife yells to the husband that men with guns are breaking is. As a marine what do you think he did? Grabbed a gun.Poor guy was mowed down in seconds. His 2 little kids got to see daddy dying when just seconds before they were having breakfast and watching cartoons. No drugs were found. No illegal activity of any kind. Sadly, the police can not be charge because the man was grabbing for a gun...in his own home...to protecct his wife and kids.

Point being when the police decide to invade your home all you can do is stand still and hope no one shoots you.
