Chickenless in South Carolina

I am looking for some chicks to buy. My husband and I have retired on a farm in Aiken SC and I am looking to start my flock. Egg laying is the focus. My favorite breeds are Rhode Island Reds and Easter Eggers/Ameraucanas, but I have had great luck with many other laying breeds. In MA, we had to consider cold-tolerance, but down here I think it is the opposite. I will consider pullets of any age.

Thanks so much. I think that is a little far for me at this time. I just discovered a local feed store that gets day old chicks from local farms. Buff orpingtons, ISA browns, Golden Comets and Ameraucanas. They never know in advance what they will have. Right now my coop will be a stall in my barn with an outside run. We have plans to build a large coop for chickens and also one for ducks but in this crazy corona world I don't know when that will happen. My flock will evolve over time and I love heritage breeds so maybe I will get in touch with you in the future? Thanks again.

I’m located in Conway and currently have some Rhode Island Red chicks. Also what feed store is it that has those particular breeds as I’m really interested in Orpingtons and Ameraucanas. More so Orpingtons.

The feed store is Wagener Milling in Wagener SC. Their phone number is 803-564-5556. You should call to find out what they have before you go. It changes all the time as they get some of their chicks from local farms, and some from commercial hatcheries. I was told that they get the Buff Orpingtons regularly from a commercial hatchery so you may have luck with that. The people in the store are very friendly and helpful.
