My chickens are not laying yet, but are close. They are usually fairly quiet, but just now when I was out watering my garden, they were making a lot of noise (similar to when a possum was near the coop). I ran over to make sure no predators were nearby and didn't see anything. So I checked inside the coop for snakes, and didn't find anything inside.
They are generally acting restless and making a lot of noise. The cats are not acting nervous, so I don't think a fox is near. There is a big thunderstorm heading our way in a few hours. Could they be sensing that?
Or maybe I am just overly concerned and they are just noisy because they are mad I am not letting them out to free range? ;)

Chickens can get upset because a minute has passed. I would suggest that maybe one of them is POL and not knowing what is going on with her body, is freaking a bit which is causing the others to freak as well. Time will tell. Hope they start laying for you real soon.

Oh, that would be a good reason for the upset. I didn't even think of that! :)

Yep, POL pullets can make a real racket..I call it the Raucous Cacophony.
