Chickens afraid of red cabbage- roosting outside!

Maybe our chickens are just "Rain Men" LOL

Yeah we lived in Champaign Illinois for 7 years, and no one cancelled classes or skipped work when it snowed. I almost did not go in to work today because of dire predictions of ice. BTW the chickens refused to get off the roost this morning until I caved in and threw the offending red cabbage out into the run. They avoided going near it and I had to move their food bowl away from the red monster.

By the time I got back from work though someone had already started pecking at the cabbage, so all is well. My 12 year old was exclaiming "mom, the chickens have blue poop!"

My chickens hate red food. If I put a tomato out there, they go spastic. Also, I've forgotten and brought there treats out on a red plastic plate and put it down in the run and they FREAKED! LOL

I remember the time I rashly set a small bowl of Killer Peas in the brooder with five-week old chicks. Panic ensued and chicks made it up over the top of the brooder to run around squawking about their imminent death. Except for the solo chick cowering in the corner with its eyes closed and back to the rest of the brooder.

Or the day I offered them the Marauding Yogurt Monster (a dollop no larger than a big strawberry) on a flat dish. That is some scary stuff. I should have known better.

Shredded carrots scared the adult flock last week, until my BSL Greta, senior tough hen, snatched some out of my hand. All the carrot shreds lost their evils powers at that point.

My hens follow me like dogs. I have to be careful when I go in the run not to step on any of them because they literarily get underneath my foot. When I built the extension to the coop, I hammer, drilled, and cut inside the coop while they where trying to roost and go to sleep. I thought nothing will ever scare my chickens.........until I bought a new broom with a yellow head.

Every time they see me with the broom they go crazy. You would think I am getting ready to make a soup out of them. On the other hand they love to pick and try to eat my yellow dust pen. Go figure chicken brain

I put red cabbage out last week and mine wouldn't even touch it! I was so surprised because they usually go over anything I put in their scrap bowl, but it didn't get touched all day.
