Hello, all. I live in Brentwood, TN and have a strong desire to have chickens. I saw, through this website, the ordinance regarding my city, but I'm not sure if I fully understand it. It LOOKS like I would need a minimum of 3 acres to have chickens. We only have about 1. But I heard from a friend of a friend that "checked into it," and you can have chickens, but no roosters, but I'm not sure if this person was taking into account the 3-acre rule or not. So bottom line, does anyone know for sure or is able to interpret our ordinance in Brentwood, TN as to whether I would be able to have chickens on less than 3 acres?

Thanks so much for any input offered.

Looks like you may need to look into that "board of zoning appeals" approval for specific lots that is mentioned after the less than three acre prohibition. Maybe someone in the TN forum can shed some light on that if someone in city administration won't.

Best of luck and welcome to BYC!

Maybe you can try posting in the Local Laws and Ordinances (and how to change them) section in the forum! Good Luck!
