Chickens almost exclusively eating scratch

Hi there, do you know what breed your birds are? Bantams usually need about 5-10 square feet of run space, while bigger standard sized birds need 10-15 square feet of run space.
Larger and more active birds should have more room to move around.
I have six standard sized birds right now, but I built my run to be just over 300 square feet so that I can increase my flock size without having to rebuild the run each year.
I have 10 hens 2 roosters, fairly large pen. I have 4 whites, 3 brown, and 4 black hens. No bannys

So, the chickens are not happy with their lot.
The last few days one of my pullets flapped over the fence, yesterday the other pullet and one of the roos joined her, and today they all decided to go foraging together without me.
Now I get to learn to trim flight feathers so I have some time to put a roof on.

They all came home for evening pets.
Got lucky this time.

Have you heard of a white hen laying brown eggs

You could cover your run with netting to prevent escape until the roof will be in place.

The feathers labeled "Primaries" on this diagram are the ones causally referred to as "flight feathers". They are the ones that you clip when clipping wings.

Just make SURE not to clip any feathers that are still growing and have blood in the shaft. If you do clip a "blood feather" by accident you'll need to pull that feather out in order to stop the bleeding.

Yes, there are several white breeds that lay brown eggs.

White Rocks and White Wyandottes are two of the most common.
