CHICKENS ALMOST READY TO LAY!?

My three chickens are going to start laying soon!

1) How long after they start squatting do they start to lay?

2) When one starts to lay does it encourage the others to start laying?

3) How long after the hen starts laying can it become broody?

1. the ones I have that squatted it was 5 days later that they laid their first egg.

2. sometimes, it depends on the girls if they are ready or not. I had 1 laying for 6 weeks before another started and that week 3 started!

3. Haven't had a broody yet but my Cochin wants to be. Every time she lays an egg, she stays on it until I come for it and then she turns like she wants to attack me but isn't courageous enough yet, lol.
