Chickens and Apricots

I have an apricot tree in my backyard. I was thinking of putting my 10x20 dog kennel around it for a chicken yard. Is there any danger to the chickens by doing this? Increased risk of parasites from the bark of the tree or anything? Thanks.

I think it would be fine. Plus, any old fruits that fall they can enjoy!

plus the chickens will be happy to eat any bugs, insects, etc ... attracted by apricot blossoms or fruit

ahhh -- eastern Washington apricots ! have cousin in East Wenatchee with glorious ones .... tree ripened are the best

Could the chickens damage the tree? I thought maybe they would like to roost in it but wasn't sure.

how high is the tree or how low are the branches. They really cant do damage like a woodpecker could.

The branches start pretty low, maybe a foot off the ground. The tree is probably 8' high total.

They might perch. if it has alot of foliage they will use it as shelter from flying predators
