chickens and car rides

I picked up a few seramas, ages 2, 3 and 4 months and drove them in a cat carrier from KY to NH and even stopped overnight. They did great. Just think about the ones that get air shipped...I am sure those get tossed around more than a speedbump in the road!

i have transported chickens alot no problems one of my EE pullets likes to ride in the car and would go to my 4H meetings with me she would just lay down in the seat but car transportation isnt as stressful as some think

and be sure you have a place ready for him when he arrives and provide food in the car so he feels more confortable......good luck have a fun road trip

I just took my smallest serama hen for a car ride yesterday without a carrier, on my lap 2 hours round trip, she loves it! when I go to the feed store she rides shotgun. SHe is a big hit when they load the trunk they all have to say hi.

If they were going to be stressed on a car ride this would do it:
When I was moving my parents and sister helped. My chickens were hunted down from all over the yard and put in the back of a truck with some kind of a rug. The rug slid. Those poor girls were slid front to back as my dad drove!

But you know, they made it and we got them into their new home and then left them be for the night.
