Chickens and Crickets...

Hey All.

I'm not sure if this should go here or in the chick raising section... BUT...

Can you feed chicks (like 3.5 week old ones) crickets?? I'd like to try it but didn't know if they'd be too big (the crickets that is!)

Should I get the smaller crickets at the petstore or will they be OK with the big crickets??

Also, do I need to feed grit if I'm giving them a few crickets here and there?? Right now they are still in my garage on wood shavings, no access to dirt/sand/grit/etc. just the shavings and their chick feed.

Yes they can likely eat the big ones. They'll probably fight over it and tear it into smaller pieces anyway. I wouldn't worry about grit for just a few crickets.
